CUHK - Shenzhen School of Medicine is located in Dayun New Town, Longgang District, surrounded by mountains and located on both sides of the Shenxianling Reservoir. The water system and the mountains are important natural features of the campus. Our design respects the overall planning of the first phase of the campus and the spirit of integration into the environment. Taking the complex site elements as the starting point, the building coexists with nature and follows the terrain of the mountain. The overall layout and spatial form echo the natural landscape, undulating with the mountain; born by the water, and reflected on the lake.
Against the background of a floor area ratio of 4.0, the plan selects the best layout method based on the site's geomorphic characteristics and the blue line protection range. At the same time, with the help of the blue line protection range, two campus public landscape axes are created to create an open space. The South Garden and the North Garden are located on both sides of the Shenxianling Reservoir. Each function is arranged according to the mountain. The building volume close to both sides of the Shenxianling Reservoir falls according to the mountain, creating the best landscape view facing the lake. And build an open campus ventilation and visual corridor to adapt to the climate and create a layout method that accommodates mountains and waters. The buildings are divided into small pieces and fall down along the mountain, forming a group courtyard and a broad vision. Create a campus courtyard space with appropriate scale and rich experience. Form a campus layout that is stacked on the mountain and integrated with the mountains and water.
