Shenzhen New Campus Season 4- Nanshan Taoyuan Primary School Renovation and Expansion

Renovation and expansion is the evolution and reflection of "stock renewal" in the process of urbanization. While predicting the potential development opportunities it may bring, the reasonable layout under high density, the relationship between campus renewal iteration and site, and the integration of future campus and city have become issues that we need to think about and solve.

The design makes full use of the box culvert setback and site height difference to integrate the campus layout and eliminate the sense of oppression caused by the doubling of density. Trees actively participate in space creation, integrating with buildings, athletic fields, site height differences, and urban interfaces, becoming a key element in creating campus space. The campus's shared axis is combined with the height difference of the site, the preserved trees, and the track and field space to accommodate daily campus activities and connect to the urban space. Here, architecture is no longer the protagonist of the site, but is modestly integrated into the environment; here, the new and the old coexist and prosper together, echoing the site's landscape and urban texture; here, the campus and the urban community are reconnected, and a new story will slowly unfold.
