Chengdu Jingcai School

The project site is located in Wenjiang District, Chengdu City, with Yongwen Road as the main urban road to the west and a native ecological forest area to the east. This natural forest area constitutes a unique landscape resource of the site. Based on in-depth analysis of site conditions, functional requirements, and owner needs, the design adopts a free-form layout strategy, cleverly echoing the characteristics of the fan-shaped site and surrounding landforms, while meeting the functional and formal demands of the owners. The plan aims to create an organic and unified campus complex, while coordinating the relationship between the campus and the urban community, and creating an inclusive and open campus life scene.

The campus main axis design breaks through the concept of traditional transportation corridors and creates a multifunctional composite shared space system. Through rich spatial scale changes and complementary functions formed by standard teaching units, it creates a dynamic place for students to communicate and interact during breaks, achieving an educational and entertaining spatial experience. Incorporating a freely flowing shared flow line into the design, organically connecting various functional groups to form an open axis that runs through the campus. This axis, through clever scale conversion, not only resolves the spatial distance of large-scale campuses, but also provides students with a fun space for exploration and interaction. The functional layout adopts a north-south zoning strategy, moderately separating the teaching area from the living area while maintaining organic connections, forming a clear and complete campus structure.

The campus layout meets transportation needs while also fully responding to site conditions, placing the playground on the west side and opening up courtyards in various directions between buildings towards large green spaces and forests. The middle school and high school departments are separated from the east and west, with public spaces such as the gymnasium, library, auditorium, and theater interspersed in the middle and connected through platforms. While relatively independent, they also achieve circulation between each floor, strengthening the connection between functional groups.

On the basis of meeting the requirements of transportation organization, campus planning fully respects the characteristics of the site: the sports field is arranged on the west side, the buildings are enclosed to form a multi-directional courtyard space, and a visual corridor is formed with the ecological forest belt on the east side. The middle school and high school departments adopt an east-west layout, with public spaces such as sports halls, libraries, lecture halls, and theaters interspersed in the middle, achieving organic connection between various functional groups through a three-dimensional platform. The volume near the playground is low and facing the playground to create an outdoor theater, forming an open posture towards the playground. Design to place public functions such as libraries and sports halls on the ground floor, creating an open and shared community space system, and improving space utilization through a time-sharing sharing mechanism to build a future campus community rich in cultural memory.

Under the sunshine, students can either focus on studying or have fun and communication. The campus breaks through the traditional single layout and forms a multi-level and multi-dimensional composite three-dimensional space. This is not only a temple of knowledge, but also a free paradise that integrates rich spatial scales, natural light, ecological landscapes, and laughter.
